SSF: Stainless steel production increased by 3.4% in 3 quarters%
According to data published by ISSF (International Stainless Steel Forum) on Thursday, the world's stainless steel smelting in the first 9 months of 2019 amounted to 39,809 million tons. The annual volume growth is 3.4%.
The share of metallurgical enterprises of the People's Republic of China in the global volume of stainless steel production accounted for 22.49 million tons, an improvement in indicators by January-September 2018 was 11.7%. Asian countries, excluding China and South Korea, produced 5.879 million tons of stainless steel, which is 5.4% less than in the first 9 months of last year.
Stainless steel production in Europe decreased by 7.2% to 5,234 million tons in the first 9 months of 2019. In the USA, metallurgical enterprises produced 2.019 million tons of stainless steel in January-September — 7.5% less compared to the same period last year. Stainless steel producers in Brazil, Indonesia, the Russian Federation, South Africa and South Korea (listed in the table as "others") deteriorated by 3.1% to 4.188 million tons.
